Kaitlyn Flowers and Tatiana Dunlap combined for 33 points as the St. Joseph girls basketball team dominated the final three quarters to beat visiting San Luis Obispo 59-35 in a Pac 7 League game on Wednesday. Case Bruton and Keith Datu teamed up for 37 as the Knights held off the Tigers 61-53 to complete the doubleheader sweep.
The Lady Knights improved to 5-0 in league play, while the Tigers dropped to 3-2.
The San Luis Obispo girls surged out to an early six point lead behind Jessie Judge and Erica Chandler. The Tigers led 12-8 after the first quarter, but trailed by four points at halftime.
St. Joseph dominated the second half outscoring the Tigers by 20 points in the final sixteen minutes. Flowers, a junior, led the way with 20 points in the game, while Dunlap, a junior added 13.
Chandler led the Tigers with 13 points, while Judge recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds.
In the boys game that followed David Thoreson kept the Tigers in the game with a game-high 24 points. Curtis Schilling added 15 for the visiting Tigers.
Bruton, a senior guard, led the Knights with 20 points. Datu added 17 points and Curry Parham contributed 11.
The St. Joseph boys are now 4-1 in league, while the Tigers fell to 1-4.
When league play continues Friday, the Tigers play Righetti and the Knights battle Paso Robles. The boys teams are on the road with the girls squads playing on their home courts.
