FNH Week 12 Awards

Friday Night Highlights - Week 12 Awards

Player of the Week - Mission Prep's Patrick Laird

Laird earns his third FNH honor of the season. The Mission Prep senior racked up over 300 yards and scored the Royals first four touchdowns in their 41-15 victory in the second round of the CIF playoffs. Laird, who's already set the Central Coast's single-season rushing record, ranks second in the entire state according to MaxPreps with over 2,800 rushing yards this year.

Play of the Week - Lompoc's Derrick Portis

The Lompoc junior has earned plenty of attention for his offensive skills out of the Brave backfield, but the two-way star made a key defensive play to help seal Lompoc's win over Santa Monica on Friday. With Lompoc leading mid-way through the fourth quarter, the Vikings elected to go for it on fourth down. Portis knifed his way into the Santa Monica backfield, making the stop behind the line of scrimmage, and putting the finishing touches on Lompoc's 42-10 victory.
