Former St.Joe, Hancock football star signs with Louisiana Tech

Santa Maria native Scott Cathcart catches a chance to play Division I college football. The former St.Joseph High and Allan Hancock star has committed to play at Louisiana Tech.

The 6'5 wide receiver caught 56 passes for 919 yards and 6 touchdowns this past season for the Bulldogs. He was the only unanimous selection to the All-Conference first team. He hauled in 30 passes for 534 yards in 2009 and earned second team All-Conference honors.

Cathcart was an All-CIF and All-State selection at St.Joseph. He earned an associate degree in business from Hancock.

Louisiana Tech competes in the Western Athletic Conference and just completed a 5-7 season.

The NCAA allows mid-year signings for junior college football players from December 15-January 15, 2011. High school football players are allowed to sign national letters of intent on February 2-April 1.
