After being closed for one week, the Fremont Theatre in San Luis Obispo is set to reopen its doors.
Rob Rossi owns the Fremont.
He and his partners have been working to get a long-term shared use arrangement to keep the theatre showing movies for years to come.
He says the theater not only shows movies but also hosts live events, and that agreement helps dictate when those events take place.
"It's actually a test period for the next twelve months to see how we can coordinate movies with other performances," said Rossi, "You know it's very difficult to make the movie business work even in the new theaters, so in a large house like the Fremont, it's even more difficult."
The previous agreement expired one week ago.
Rossi says he believes the Fremont will have no trouble staying open after the year is up but also says as films move to digital format, they will have to find a way to adapt.
The theatre will reopen on Valentine's Day.
