Friday Night Highlights - Week 13 Awards
Player of the Week - Mission Prep's Evan Talbert
FNH Player of the Year candidate Patrick Laird had another monster game on Friday, but senior Evan Talbert was terrific as well. The Mission Prep wide receiver hauled in six passes for 192 yards and a touchdown in the Royals 51-30 win over Desert. Talbert has now hauled in three touchdowns in Mission's three playoff victories this year. The Royals will play for a CIF Northeast Division Championship on Saturday night at Salesian High School.
Play of the Week - Lompoc's Ainuu Taua
Not much went right for Lompoc in their Western Division semifinal loss to Chaminade on Friday, but with the Braves in desperate need of a spark, their biggest star rose to the occasion again. On 4th and two, Ainuu Taua lined up in punt formation and when the Braves called for a fake, the senior rumbled 19 yards for a much-needed Lompoc first down. The play extended the drive and eventually led to Lompoc's lone first half touchdown. The Braves ended their season at 11-2.
