KSBY Sports confirmed on Monday Gary Wilson is out as Righetti High's varsity football head coach.
Wilson had been the head coach of the Warriors since 2004. In nine season, he guided the Warriors to a 51-44 overall record. Righetti went 24-22 in league play. In 2009, Wilson led Righetti to an 8-3 overall record and a perfect 5-0 run through Pac 7 play for a league title.
Righetti made four CIF playoff appearances under Wilson and went 1-4. The win came in the first round of the CIF playoffs in 2011.
The Warriors are coming off a 3-7 season, where they finished tied for fifth in the Pac 7 and missed the postseason. Wilson coached his son Luke, who was an All-League First Team pick as a senior this past fall.
Righetti Athletic Director Eric Albright said he was limited in what he could say about the move. He thanked Wilson for the time and effort he put into the program over the past 9 seasons. He added he was sure Wilson would continue to be a positive influence on the students at Righetti.
Attempts to reach Wilson were unsuccessful. His replacement has not been named.
