Gov. Brown issued a total 128 pardons last year

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Governor Jerry Brown's office says he granted a total of 128 pardons last year.
Brown announced he pardoned 79 and commuted the sentence of one prisoner in December. On Friday, his office submitted a report on all of the pardons for 2012 to the Legislature as required by law.
The Los Angeles Times says (http://lat.ms/XdoXmF) one of the previously unannounced people who received a pardon was George Schwartz. He was a former prosecutor and deputy Los Angeles city attorney who was convicted of soliciting sexual favors from a defendant in return for promising to help her obtain a lighter sentence.
Most of the pardons announced in December were for people who had been convicted of nonviolent drug offenses and committed no other crimes after serving their sentences.
