Gusty winds prompt advisory in Santa Barbara county mountains

As a trough of low pressure moves over the forecast area today gusty northwest to north winds will develop across the mountains and then shift to the north to northeast later tonight into early Friday. Winds will then shift to the northeast early Friday.

A wind advisory remains in effect until 3 am Friday.

Areas of northwest to north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 40 and 45 mph will effect the Santa Ynez range especially the Gaviota pass and Las Flores Canyon to Refugio. Winds will then shift to the north to northeast this evening shifting the focus of the strongest winds around the hills of Montecito with local gusts to 50 mph.
