A Vanderbilt University study finds a high dose of flu vaccine is safe and more effective for senior citizens.
The vaccine, which has four times the amount of antigen as the standard dose, was tested on thousands of older patients over two flu seasons.
It was 24 percent more effective, meaning one in four cases of the flu could be prevented.
The high dose vaccine could also help prevent hospital stays, pneumonia, and other cardio-respiratory conditions.
