High surf advisory remains in effect until 9 am Friday for west to northwest facing beaches along the Centra Coast north of Point Conception to the Monterey County border.
Surf between 8 and 12 feet will impact mainly west and northwest beaches through Friday morning.
There is also a high tide of 5.7 feet will occur on Friday around 815 am.
Dangerous rip currents will be impacting local beaches posing a threat to all swimmers. In addition sneaker waves can inundate beaches and overtop jetties posing a threat to people on shore but near the water.
If caught in a rip current... do not try to swim against the current. Swim across the current until away from the strong flow and then swim to shore. Always swim near a lifeguard if possible. Stay out of the water if not a strong swimmer. Do not climb across jetties and never turn your back to the ocean as sneaker waves could knock you into the water.
