Increased asthma risk linked to geography

A new study suggests living closer to the equator may increase the risk for allergies and asthma.

This isn't just because of increased pollen counts, researchers theorize that greater Vitamin D production caused by UV exposure may change the immune system.

Those changes, they think, may lead to elevated risks for allergy problems. More studies are needed to confirm the link.

The American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology estimates 75-85% of asthmatics also have an allergy.
