Isla Vista Foot Patrol arrest suspected burglar

Isla Vista Foot Patrol arrested a suspected burglar early Sunday morning.

At around 1:15 am, residents in the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive contacted the Isla Vista Foot Patrol. They told officers that they saw someone in their home stealing property.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies and University of California Police Department Officers responded. When they arrived at the scene, they found a person leaving the area who matched the description of their suspect. He was later identified as 18-year-old Oliver Lim, a Santa Barbara City College student. According to police, he fled from officers and deputies, and a short foot pursuit ensued. He was quickly caught and detained.

Officers say they then found stolen property from the residence that reported the burglary. Lim was also in possession of property from several unreported vehicle burglaries in the area, including a GPS unit, Samsung TV monitor, credit cards, electronic devices, cell phones, money, prescription medication, and checks.

Lim was booked in the Santa Barbara County Jail for residential burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, petty theft, and resisting arrest. His bail is set at $50,000.
