The annual Banff Film Festival takes place in Canada, but has a traveling road show exhibiting the best films from the week-long event. This year it stops in San Luis Obispo on Monday, September 24.
The Radical Reels film tour, presented by SLO Op Climbing, is a collection of short, action-packed climbing, paddling, mountain biking, BASE jumping, skiing, snowboarding, and other adrenaline sport films. Banff is known for keeping an eye out for films with a fresh approach, a new sport, or a radically independent spirit.
The screening is being brought to SLO by SLO Op executive director Kristin Horowitz, "I've watched the film festival in Bishop and Santa Barbara and always thought that SLO was a great place to host it and it was a shame that it hadn't happened. This is just the first step. We'd also like to bring the regular tour with more lifestyle films here as well." The climbing gym is celebrating a renovation completed this July, as well.
The screening starts at 7 pm on September 24 with general admission tickets set at $20.00. There are discounts for students and children. It will be shown at the Spanos Theatre at Cal Poly. Tickets include a raffle at intermission.
