Jackson family suing AEG Live, claiming the company is accountable for King of Pop's death

Opening statements are expected today in a Los Angeles court room as the family of Michael Jackson squares off against AEG Live.

The late pop icon's family claims the company should be held accountable for Jackson's death.

Jackson's mother and children allege that AEG pushed the pop star too hard, hired Dr. Conrad Murray and required Jackson to be treated to ensure he could attend all of his rehearsals and shows.

Attorneys for AEG say Jackson hired Dr. Murray himself and chose his own treatments.

They claim they are in no way liable for the singer's health or his death.

Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for Jackson's death.

The trial is expected to last two to three months.
