After taking a 21-3 lead after the first quarter, the San Luis Obispo High girls basketball team cruised to a 54-29 win over Cabrillo in a CIF Division 3A first round playoff game on Thursday.
The Tigers have won six in a row and captured their first playoff win since 2009, when they also beat Cabrillo in the first round. SLO improved to 16-10 on the season, while the Conquistadores finished the season 9-17.
Jessie Judge scored 9 of her team-high 18 points in the first quarter. Sam Lopez added 8 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers.
The Tigers' pressure defense created several turnovers in the first quarter that helped SLO take the commanding lead.
San Luis Obispo, which is ranked #4 in Division 3A, hosts 13th seeded Ganesha out of Pomona. The game is set for 5pm on Saturday. Ganesha beat Gabrielino 52-37.
The Lompoc girls lost at home 65-47 to 6th ranked Santa Margarita on Wednesday. The Braves finished the season 10-16.
