LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Los Angeles police chase of robbery suspects has ended in a deadly Interstate 5 crash, shutting down the freeway for hours and backing up traffic for miles.
Police were chasing a vehicle after a 7-Eleven convenience store robbery in Boyle Heights when the vehicle flipped at about 3 a.m. Friday just east of downtown.
KTTV-TV says the vehicle rolled several times in the northbound freeway lanes in the Lincoln Heights area.
One of the suspects was killed and two others were injured.
There is a body on the freeway and money is scattered in lanes.
The California Highway Patrol says northbound lanes of I-5 are expected to be shut down for hours.
Traffic was already backed up for miles before the start of the morning commute.
