League champions Righetti and Santa Ynez soccer win CIF openers

The Righetti Warriors entered the second round of CIF with a 4-1 win over West Covina in a first round Division 5 playoff game on Friday.

Jorge Guzman scored in the first half to give the Warriors a 1-0 into the break.

Then in the 48th minute, off a throw in, the Warriors struck again. Gustav Jarpehag headed in the thrown in toward the far post of the goal. Francisco Zepeda was there to head it to the back of the net.

West Covina scored about nine minutes later to cut the deficit to 2-1.The Warriors sealed it with two goals the rest of the way. The first of which came off a corner kick. The ball went to Edwin Franco, who sent a bullet inside the near post for a score.

Righetti plays Godinez next Wednesday in the second round.

The Los Padres League champion Santa Ynez Pirates won their Division 3opener. The Pirates blanked Highland 1-0.
