Local restaurants give back for the holiday season

The holidays are going to be a bit jollier for some underprivileged families in San Luis Obispo.

Local restaurants Novo, Luna Red and Robin's are donating gifts to the Family Care Network of SLO.

The Family Care Network serves foster and high-needs children, youth and families on the Central Coast.

Every year, the Family Care Network holds the annual Sponsor a Child for the Holidays gift gathering effort.

The agency partners with the Central Coast community to provide gifts requested from the over 400 foster and high-needs children served throughout December in SLO and Santa Barbara counties.

Wish list cards are gathered from families served by the Family Care Network and community members help make these wishes come true.

Employees of the restaurants started purchasing gifts a month ago both individually and jointly for the children and families.

While these restaurants have worked with the Family Care Network in the past, gathering gifts for the agency during the holidays was a first time effort.

Marketing Manager of the restaurants Molly Kiely said the gift drive was very successful and a great way for employees to come together.
