Local servicewoman returns to SLO Airport

Dozens of friends and family members gathered today at the San Luis Obispo Airport to welcome home a local servicewoman.

Lieutenant Colonel Jana Kokkenen arrived into SLO just before 1 p.m. People met Kokkenen's family and signed a card and flag for the local hero.

Kokkenen was stationed in Germany for four years, and was deployed to Afghanistan, Turkey, and Africa.

"I could never ask for anything more than this. It was the welcome home I never got in Germany, which is where I was stationed after my last deployment. It makes all the time I spent worth it, and it's wonderful to see how all of the community has come together. It's great," said Lt. Colonel, Jana Kokkenen.

Jana is the daughter of local politican Matt Kokkenen.
