"Beauty and the Beast" is a "tale as old as time, true as it can be."
Starting Friday, the Disney classic is taking the stage at the Alex and Faye Spanos Theatre of the Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo.
Belle's father was trespassing at the Beast's enchanted castle, but Belle takes his place and is given her father's remaining punishment.
Forced to be around a monster for the rest of her life, Belle and Beast learn more about each other than what meets the eye.
"That is the first time the Beast has ever heard anybody give freely of themselves, and it strikes him as interesting... That's the first time where the Beast's mind is altered by her," says Dylan F. Thomas, who plays the Beast.
"She ends up looking for love and she finds a companion... somebody who understands her and is her friend and they connect much more deeply than skin deep it turns out, adds Sarah Reggiardo, who plays Belle.
You can check out "Beauty and the Beast" through July 20.
