Local Spotlight: "Pavement"

Some artists can incorporate influences that seem incompatible. Critics say that's just what Kyle Abraham is doing in his work, "Pavement." Abraham is a MacArthur Genius award-winner. He mixes urban and classical dance. He grew up on the streets of Pittsburgh and says the 1991 film "Boyz n the Hood" was a strong influence in his development as a choreographer. The show, "Pavement," incorporates a span of music from Bach to Sam Cooke. You can catch "Pavement" Tuesday night at 8:00 at Campbell Hall on the UCSB campus.
