Local Spotlight: "Run Silent, Run Deep."

The award-winning book, "Run Silent, Run Deep," became an action movie in the late '50s, starring two of Hollywood's leading men.

While hunting Japanese ships in the Pacific, the officers are locked in a battle of wills.

Clark Gable plays a captain whose submarine was previously destroyed by the Japanese fleet. Now he's onboard a new submarine, commanded by Burt Lancaster.

They're dodging enemy aircraft, trying to sink enemy ships, but it's a classic case of too many chiefs.

The New York Times says the film will keep you on the edge of your seat and you can check it out free of charge at the San Luis Obispo Library Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. as part of the library's series, "Watch a Great Book."

The Friends of the Library are sponsoring the event and even supplying free snacks.
