Local student artist headed to Washington, D.C. for art award

A recent graduate from Righetti High School in Santa Maria is heading to Washington, D.C. for her achievements in art.

Christa Weston won California's 24th Congressional District art competition this year.

She's heading to the capitol to receive her award this June.

Her photograph of the former diner made up of two old train cars in Buellton will be featured for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

Weston will attend Cal State Long Beach in the fall.
