Middle and High School students from throughout San Luis Obispo County are putting their engineering skills to the test.

The California Central Coast VEX Robotics Competition was held Saturday at Cal Poly. Participants were tasked with building robots and then battling against each other.

The event is put on by VEX Robotics Design System and the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation.

The top-performing teams at Saturday's event will move on to the VEX Robotics World Championship held in Anaheim this spring. There, they will get the chance to compete with other top-performing teams from throughout the world.
