Location scouts for film and TV, wrap up visit to SLO County

Fifteen location scouts from Los Angeles spent the last two days in northern San Luis Obispo County, checking out all sorts of spots where film, television, and commercial productions could take advantage of scenery that L.A. doesn't offer.
On Wednesday, they toured a variety of spots in Paso Robles, including Hunter Ranch Golf Course, Creston, Mission San Miguel, and a fascinating little bed and breakfast know as Inn Paridiso...
Free lance location scout and Paso resident, Mark Zekanis, says production companies can shoot on the Central Coast at a fraction of the cost of shooting in other spots and he says the scouts seemed to like what they saw.
"Most of them are very surprised to see the diversity of locations that we've seen so far," he said. "It's really interesting to see their expressions and their faces and the amount of pictures they're taking with their cameras."
The location manager for the HBO show, "House of Lies" says her production group likes to use spots that haven't been over-exposed by other films and TV shows.
"This place here," she said, pointing the the almost gothic lines of the Inn Paradiso, "...I haven't finished touring this place, but it's gorgeous. I mean it has a lot of unique characteristics. This is my first time coming up here, so I'm just blown away by all the beauty and just the creative places that they have here."
The group wrapped up Thursday with a tour of spots in and around Templeton and Santa Margarita Ranch.
