Lompoc man arrested following carjacking

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Lompoc man early Tuesday morning on suspicion of carjacking, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and armed robbery.

The Sheriff's Office says a woman was getting into her car at the Chumash Casino parking structure Tuesday around 2:30 am, when a man jumped into her car, put a knife to her throat, and ordered her to drive.

When the woman yelled for help, the man ran away.

After a search and brief chase, deputies arrested Michael Burritt, 46, in some bushes near Highway 246 and Via Juana.

The Sheriff's Office says Burritt also had warrants for his arrest in several counties. His wife, Diane Burritt, 47, was located inside the casino and also arrested. Sheriff's officials say she also had a warrant out for her arrest.
