A man was arrested early Saturday morning after people say he vandalized vehicles in San Luis Obispo.

Around 2:22 a.m., a person called 911 after seeing someone running down the street breaking windows on vehicles.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department says the caller chased after the suspect, later identified as Matthew Martin, 21, and detained him at Bond and Hathway until officers arrived.

Police say the vandalisms occurred between Johnson and Phillips and Kentucky and Stafford.

Martin was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail for felony vandalism and being drunk in public.

Damages are estimated at $3,000.
