EL CAJON, Calif. (AP) - A man has been arrested on suspicion of setting a fire to a Greek Orthodox church in San Diego County.
Authorities say 38-year-old Darin Williams was booked Sunday for investigation of arson, burglary and committing a hate crime after the 4 a.m. fire at St. Gregory of Nyssa church in El Cajon.
The sheriff's arson unit said the blaze caused nearly $250,000 in damages.
The church's priest told U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/122OkyW) that Williams had been renting a room from a parishioner. The Rev. Simeon Corona said Williams got upset when Corona told him that he could no longer stay at the parishioner's house if he did not continue taking his medications.
It wasn't immediately known whether Williams has retained an attorney.
