Man with ties to Santa Barbara schools charged with sexually abusing children

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, a former Santa Barbara resident who had ties to two area preschools was arrested Sunday.

56-year-old Paul Hultman of Apple Valley is charged with sexually abusing five children.

Deputies say they received a call from two parents whose daughter told them she was sexually abused by Hultman.

Four other children in the neighborhood told police Hultman had sexually abused them in exchange for gifts or money.

Hultman was booked in the San Bernardino County Jail. His bail is set at $1 million.

Officials say Hultman was previously married to the owner and licensee of Sherwood Montessori School and Sherwood Montessori House of Children. Both facilities are in Santa Barbara. Officials say he hasn't had any association with the schools since 2007.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Detectives believe there may be additional victims in the Santa Barbara area. If you have any information, call the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Bureau at (805) 681-4150 or leave an anonymous tip at (805) 681-4171
