One in four high school seniors smoked marijuana in the past month. That's according to a new study from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

The survey of more than 45,000 8th, 10th and 12th graders reveals more teens are smoking marijuana than ever before, and many don't think it's harmful.

About 1% of 8th graders smoke marijuana every day, as well as 7% of seniors.

The perception marijuana is harmful is at the lowest it has ever been since the annual survey began in 1975, leading researchers to believe abuse will continue to increase.

On a positive note, illicit drugs, alcohol and cigarette use are declining.

One in three eighth grade students tried alcohol in 2012, compared to more than half in 1994.
