Martin cards 69 to lead Arroyo Grande to its first-ever CIF title

Mitch Martin carded a three under par 69 to help lead the Arroyo Grande High boys golf team to its first-ever CIF title on Monday at the central Coast Divisional Championship at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande. The divisional is part of the CIF-Southern Section Ford Championships presented by Farmers.

The Eagles, who are coming off their first Pac 7 League title since 1995, finished with a team score of 390. Runner-up Rio Mesa finished one stroke behind with a 391, while third place Ventura tallied a 393. The top three teams advanced to the Regional Tournament Qualifier at Mission Lakes Country Club in Desert Hot Springs on Thursday.

A total of fifteen schools participated in the regional. San Luis Obispo finished fifth with a 402, Atascadero came in seventh with a 409, Santa Ynez finished tied for ninth with a 418 and Righetti finished 14th at 444.

Alex Linn carded a 76 to help the Eagles to the top of the scoreboard. Josh Schneider and Conner Sandman finished with 81's. Martin's 69 was the lowest round of the day out of the 90 golfers in the tournament.

Kush Sikand carded a 75 and Adam Zakaria finished with a 76 to lead san Luis Obispo. Nick Nielsen finished at 7-over 79 and Dakota Zavalla carded an 80 for Los Padres League champion Santa Ynez.

Brandon Erickson led the Greyhounds with a 77, while Blaine Aguiar and Donnie Hedrick carded 7-over 79's. Nick Zimkowski led Righetti with a 77, while Landon Brown added an 81.
