Middle school students learn about Civil War with reenactment

Students at Judkins Middle School in Pismo Beach are living history as part of a Civil War reenactment.

Starting Friday afternoon, students dressed up in Civil War-era attire, began a more than 20-hour encampment. It's complete with campfires, injured soldiers, and tents for the students to sleep in.

The event is coordinated by Social Studies teacher Terry Handy.

Students take part in a Civil War ball on Friday night. On Saturday morning, they'll hear the Gettysburg Address.
