More people are choosing to live together before marriage, according to a new study from the National Center for Health Statistics.
More than 12,000 women were surveyed. Nearly half said they lived with their partner before marriage.
40% of these unions progressed into marriage, while 30% resulted in a break up.
One in five women became pregnant in the first year they lived with their partner. However, the chance they married their partner within six months of getting pregnant was lower in 2010 than in 1995.
