Behind a 29 point effort from Luke Munds, the Morro Bay boys basketball team beat Orcutt Academy 74-60 in a non-league game on Monday night.
The Spartans scored 30 points in the first quarter, but managed only 5 points in the third quarter.
Xavier Alfaro pouredin 13 points and Elijah Lampley recorded a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Pirates. Morro Bay improved to 8-11 and snapped a two-game losing skid.
Manny Mangayao led the Spartans with 16 points, while Dante Hodge added 15. Orcutt Academy dropped to 3-14 on the season. The Spartans, who beat Nipomo 56-45 for their first-ever win over an Los Padres League team earlier this year, fell to 1-5 against LPL squads.
Morro Bay returns to action Wednesday in a Los Padres League game against Lompoc. The Spartans battle Providence Hall on Tuesday night.
