Murray, Kentucky wins over San Luis Obispo for friendliest

Well, it's hard to tell what made the difference, but San Luis Obispo lost out to Murray, Kentucky for the Friendliest City in America title. Five teams of judges in Rand McNally's "Best of the Road" toured the United States checking out the finalists for the title, which SLO-town was one of.

The judges were escorted around the city, paying a visit to Bubble Gum Alley, going wine-tasting and taking in the Concerts in the Plaza. (They wer even publically wooed by KSBY's own Dave Hovde!)

But it wasn't enough to have the "Best of the Road" bunch name San Luis Obispo the friendliest.

While clearly there is some disappointment at not earning the title, it seems most people in the San Luis Obispo are taking it in stride and not letting it effect their moods. After all, it still is the Happiest City in America. So say international author Dan Buettner and Oprah, after all. (And just about anyone you bump into at Downtown Farmer's market on any given Thursday night.)

So congrats Murray, Kentucky. We're really happy for you!
