A publication named by the Acadamy Award of the food world (The James Beard Foundation) as the publication of the year, has arrived in San Luis Obispo.
Edible San Luis Obispo will be all about local farmers, fishermen, chefs, vintners, food artisans, and retailers who help produce, prepare and deliver this area's distinct bounty of food and drink. The magazine will especially highlight people who try to go about their business in sustainable ways.
Edible San Luis Obispo is owned and operated by Karrie Crane and Eric Carlstedt and benefits from the support of Edible Communities and the publishers of its 70+ other member publications.
The first Edible magazine, Edible Ojai, was launched in 2002 by Tracey Ryder and Carole Topalian. Ryder and Topalian went on to found other "Edible Communities" to help other local food advocates start magazines in their own regions. The Edible family has gained about seven new magazines per year and in May 2011, the James Beard Foundation awarded the group with its first-ever Publication of the Year Award.
The magazine will be available free from numerous select locations and by subscription via the website, www.edibleSLO.com. For more information, go to www.ediblecommunities.com.
