There's a new and environmentally-friendly way for people in Morro Bay to clean their boats.
Monday, the Morro Bay National Estuary Program and the Commercial Fishermens Organization displayed two boat sanders.
The new sanders are supposed to help eliminate dust pollution in the bay and were made possible by a grant from the Estuary Program.
The new vacuum sanders capture up to 98 percent of dust produced.
"These are high-tech vacuums, really nice sanders. There won't be any problem. Nobody will complain about a guy sanding his boat in the water," said Tom Hafer with the Commercial Fishermen's Organization.
Boat owners in Morro Bay can start using the sanders for in-water maintenance this month.
