New visitors center opens in Morro Bay

There's a new place for tourists to go in Morro Bay.

The city's new visitor's center celebrated its grand opening Thursday evening.

The city says it has experienced record growth in tourism during the past three years.

The transient occupancy tax alone has brought in more than $2 million; that's the tax charges on hotel rooms.

Karrin Moss is the new executive director of the center. She told KSBY News, "You know we don't see ourselves as a competitor to other coastal cities. I like to say its like a salad bar you know theres a lot of different options for people and we just want people to know what is their experience going to be when they visit us."

The visitor center is located at 255 Morro Bay Boulevard. It's open seven days a week.
