No major injuries reported in Saturday night car crash in Pismo

California Highway Patrol officials say there are no reports of major injuries after two car accidents occurred within minutes of each other in the Pismo Beach area.

The first accident happened just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officials say a disabled car was parked in the right shoulder of the Southbound 101 Freeway just north of Mattie Road. One passenger was in the car.

24-year-old Brian Emerson from Arroyo Grande was driving nearby when his car left the roadway and crashed into the parked car.

Officials were able to determine that he was driving under the influence.

He was booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

A third vehicle driving nearby was also involved in the crash. Officers aren't sure how that car became involved. They are still investigating that part of the accident.

There were complaints of pain in that crash, but officials say there are no reports of major injuries.

Three minutes after that accident, a second crash occurred.

Officers say a driver had stopped to avoid the scene of the first crash, and the driver of another vehicle rear-ended them.

There were no reports of major injuries in that crash either.

Highway Patrol Officers had to reroute traffic in the area, causing some traffic.

Pismo Beach Police also assisted at the scene.
