The California Highway Patrol says two pedestrians were hit and killed Friday night while they were walking in the road on Highway 154 near the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course.
The CHP says two people were walking in the road around 11:45 p.m. and were hit by a vehicle traveling west.
Two vehicles involved stopped, but the driver that hit them fled the scene.
Officers later arrested 48-year-old Martin Macarena from San Luis Obispo for felony hit and run causing injuries.
The names of the victims have not been released, and no other arrests have been made.
The CHP asks anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them.
