Avila Beach pier reopens

The Avila Beach pier is back open after harbor officials closed it Thursday as a safety precaution. The Port San Luis Harbor District closed the pier about a third of the way out due to high swells related to Hurricane Marie. No injuries were reported and Harbor Manager Steve McGrath says the pier was not damaged.
