Pecho Ranch Day set for July 6th

It's a chance to play at Montaña de Oro State Park and experience a little bit of history smack dab in the middle of summertime. Pecho Ranch Day is Saturday, July 6,from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Spooner Ranch House.

Presented by California Coast State Parks Association, it's a free event designed to show you what it was like to live on the Spooner Ranch in the early 1900's.

Visit "Grandpa's Farm" and try cow milking, using a wringer washer, roping steers, participating in bag races, can stilt walking, hoop games, and knot tying.

You can also continue your home arts education and try button sewing and quilting. Want to learn firsthand how to make butter for freshly baked bread in the Spooner kitchen? You can do that, or bring your best pie, and take part in the pie-baking contest.

You can also stretch your legs and take the Spooner History Hike, learn about the local native plants, and check out the 4-H Farm Animals.

"Atalanta Running," a trio of Central Coast women who play accordion, violin, bass, guitar, and penny whistle as well as sing in three part harmonies will provide live toe-tapping music.
