Megan Hattar hit a three point at the buzzer to deliver a thrilling 47-46 win over Centennial for the Templeton High girls basketball team on Friday during the third day of the Perry Ford Holiday Tournament.
The Eagles improved to 3-0 at the tournament thanks to Hattar's game-winning shot. The Eagles trailed by two points with 4.1 seconds in the game. They in-bounded the ball and took it the length of the court for Hattar to knock down a shot about four feet behind the line.
Centennial took an early 10-1 lead in the first quarter, but Templeton managed to take a 1 point lead into halftime.
Mari Stewart and Autumn Russell recorded double-doubles for the Eagles. Stewart had 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Russell had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Templeton plays Bakersfield at Morro Bay High at 9am on Saturday.
The Morro Bay girls scored their first win of the tournament. The Pirates and San Luis Obispo are co-hosting the 7th annual tournament. The Pirates crushed Elk Grove 59-14. Eight different Pirates scored in the game. Carli Watt and Kara Schmidt had 11 points apiece to lead Morro Bay. Nikki Bloom added 10 points. Morro Bay faces Righetti at 12pm on Saturday.
Lompoc scored an impresive 53-38 win over Frontier on Friday. The Braves battle Arroyo Grande at 9am Saturday at SLO HS.
Atascadero lost 62-52 to Ridgeview. The Greyhounds were led by Camille LeBlanc, who had 17 points. Mary Kate Evans added 13 points and 11 rebounds. Atascadero squares off against Centennial at 10:30am Saturday at MBHS.
Also on Friday, Righetti lost 62-18 to undefeated Garces. Mission Prep fell 52-37 to Bakersfield. The Royals will host three games on Saturday. Mission plays Garces at 12pm on its home court.
San Luis Obispo built a 31-12 lead over Nipomo and hung on for a 47-37 victory. Jessica Judge had a solid all-around game for the Tigers with 13 points, 8 blocks and 7 rebounds. Erica Chandler led the Tigers with 16 points and Christine Freberg had 12 points.
