Police at NorCal restaurant after hostages taken

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Sacramento police have a fast food restaurant surrounded where local media outlets are reporting that an armed man took people hostage inside the restaurant.

Sacramento police Officer Doug Morse told Sacramento television station News10 (http://on.news10.net/RihcQn ) the incident started around 1 p.m. Saturday as an armed robbery of a Jack in the Box restaurant.

Initially it was thought that as many as five people were being held hostage, but now the station and the Sacramento Bee (http://bit.ly/RL2FfX ) are reporting that two women were taken hostage. The Bee says one of the two women was able to walk out of the restaurant about two hours after the standoff began.

Some nearby businesses have been evacuated, while some others have been locked down.

Calls to Sacramento police seeking additional information were not immediately returned.
