UC Santa Barbara Police, with help from Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Investigators and the Coroners Bureau, have identified a badly decomposed body found in a marsh area on campus last May.

The body was discovered on the morning of May 10, 2012 between Santa Catalina Residence Hall and the Santa Ynez Apartments.

Using DNA and personal property collected at the scene, investigators were able to identify the body as Thomas Lee Broad, 63.

Police say Broad was homeless and had frequented the Isla Vista area.

The cause of death was undetermined, but police say there was no evidence of foul play.
