The San Luis Obispo Police Department is reminding residents to keep their homes secure at all times after several burglaries have taken place over the last few days.
Officers say there have been five burglaries at homes near the Cal Poly campus since Nov. 30, and that 15 MacBook Pro laptops have been stolen.
They say that other valuables have not been taken, and believe the laptops are the intended item that the burglars want.
Police say this may not be random crimes of opportunity, but part of a larger, more organized theft ring, due to preliminary information they have gathered so far.
They say the burglaries have happened in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Foothill Boulevard, near the 100 block of Hathaway, and the 300 block of Buena Vista.
They say people leaving town should consider taking their valuable items with them instead of leaving them at home.
If you see any suspicious activity, police ask you to call them immediately.
