Police say shooting at Santa Rosa Park is not random

The search is on for two men wanted in connection with a shooting in San Luis Obispo that happened early Wednesday morning.

A 31-year-old man was running from two men when he was shot in the back," said San Luis Obispo police, Thursday. Shortly after, San Luis Obispo Police Department got a call that a man was screaming in the area near Santa Rosa park.

Officers responded and found a man who had been shot with a .22 caliber gun. They also said the shooting was not random, and the victim and suspects have some connection. However, many residents who live near Lemon Street and Santa Rosa park said it is unusual for this neighborhood to have disturbances.

"Very shocking to me. I didn't hear anything. I do get worried about the park here, but sometimes we have people coming to our door asking for money and for different reasons," said Shelby Ardeljan.

The victim is in stable condition tonight at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the San Luis Obispo Police Department at (805) 781-7321 or Crime Stoppers at (805) 549-7867.
