Smoking marijuana may increase the risk for stroke during middle age.
Researchers in Australia studied 160 stroke patients who were around 45-years old. They compared them to a similar number of healthy adults.
They found the stroke patients were two times more likely to smoke pot.
Many marijuana users were also cigarette smokers, so the researchers say it's hard to tell what exactly is increasing the risk for stroke.
They do say marijuana causes atrial fibrillation, and makes brain vessels constrict, which could increase the risk for stroke.
