A prescribed burn in the Coon Creek area of Montana de Oro State Park has jumped containment lines and is now being treated like a wildfire.

CAL FIRE says 100-plus acres have been burned in addition to the original 430 that were set to be burned as a part of the prescribed burn.

Fire Chief Robert Lewin says resources have been pulled from all over the state to help fight the fire. Firefighters are aggressively attacking the fire with air and ground resources.

There is no containment but official are hoping to stop the forward spread by the end of the day and maintain control over the next couple days.

Chief Lewin says the offshore winds were stronger than anticipated, making it harder to gain control of the fire.
