Santa Maria police said Tuesday they are investigating a rash of car thefts over the weekend in the city.
Lt. Kim Graham said eight cars were stolen during that time and most were Honda's from the 1990's. Three have since been recovered.
Lt. Graham said locking your doors and keeping valuables out of sight are the best ways to prevent thieves from targeting your car and belongings.
